Conley’s 22 points lead Mount Union win
HIRAM — Mount Union College senior Luke Conley scored a game-high and career-best 22 points Wednesday as the Purple Raiders ran their record to 4-0 to start the season with a 74-69 win at Hiram College.
Conley was one of three Raiders in double figures as senior Chris Switzer scored 20 along with 12 points from junior Sam King (Masury/Brookfield High).
Switzer hit a pair of free throws at the 12:29 mark of the first half to give Mount Union a 20-6 lead to start the contest.
Hiram (1-1) came back closing the gap to four points three times before Switzer had a three-point play on a layup and a free throw to give the Raiders a 44-37 lead.
Hiram continued to rally in the second half and took its first lead of the contest, 58-57 on a Jason Hebeisen jumper with 9:15 remaining.
With the score tied at 60, Mount Union went on a decisive 10-2 run highlighted by Conley scoring six points during the run.
Chris Roberts scored 18 points to lead Hiram.
Mount Union stays on the road, playing Monday at 7 p.m. at Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa.
