YOUNGSTOWN — Crossroads Church, 554 S. Meridian Road, will be taking orders for Angel Food Blessings in a Box. Crossroads Church is a host site for the Angel Food Program, which helps reduce the amount you spend on groceries each month. Cost is $30 per unit and includes meats, vegetables, fruit and more — $75 worth of groceries. There are no income restrictions or guidelines. If you eat, you qualify. Pre-order, prepay cash, money orders and Ohio Direction Card are accepted.

Orders will be taken on the following days and times:

Monday, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; next Wednesday, 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.; Dec. 6, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Dec. 8, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (last day to place orders for December menu). Pantry seeks donations

NEWTON FALLS — The Newton Falls Community Pantry is asking for donations to help provide food to people in need this holiday season.

A representative from the pantry said the food supply is running low and so are funds to replenish the food. With almost 400 people asking for food this Thanksgiving, the pantry is asking for food or monetary donations.

Water boil advisory

CANFIELD — A water boil advisory is in effect in the city after a water line break on Callahan Road and North Hillside Drive.

The boil is a precaution for residents of Callahan Road from Winona Avenue to North Hillside Drive and all of North Hillside Drive and will remain in effect until 12:30 p.m. today.

Residents are asked to boil any water used for cooking, drinking or oral hygiene for at least one minute during this period.

Beatitude House grant

YOUNGSTOWN — Beatitude House has been awarded a $3,000 grant that was underwritten by Charter One Foundation.

The grant will support A House of Blessing, which is a transitional housing program for homeless women with children. Women can remain in the program for two years while working to achieve educational goals.

Beatitude House works with disadvantaged women and children in the Mahoning Valley by helping them find homes, providing education and fostering healthy families.

Charter One Bank operates in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.

Beaver tree lighting

NORTH LIMA — The second annual Holiday Tree Lighting in Beaver Township will take place at 5 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Veterans Memorial at state Routes 164 and 165.

The South Range High School Choir will perform, and there will be a special visit by Santa Claus. Refreshments will be available after the program at the township administration office.

Turkey Trot walk/run

EAST PALESTINE — The first Turkey Trot sponsored by the East Palestine Chamber of Commerce will start at 9 a.m. Thursday at the city park. Registration for the 5K walk/run begins at 8 a.m., and the fee is $15 a participant. The event will be broken down by age and gender, with awards going to the top runner in each category. Volunteers honored

EAST PALESTINE — City council this week recognized volunteers affiliated with First United Presbyterian Church for their involvement in refurbishing and repainting the playground at the city park earlier this year.

Council presented an award to city resident Phil Bartholomew for his efforts and the efforts of around 30 volunteers who assisted him.

Victorian Holiday Walk

WARREN — A preview of the Victorian Holiday Walk will be presented from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Upton House, 380 Monroe Street N.W. Cost is $15 and includes hors d’oeuvres, beverages and dessert. For more information, call the Trumbull County Tourism Bureau at (330) 675-3081.
