Churches and other area groups are offering free community Thanksgiving dinners before or on the holiday:

Bristolville United Methodist Church, Routes 45 and 88, Bristolville: A community dinner is planned from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. The church is handicapped-accessible. Takeouts will be available. For information, call the church at (330) 889-3181.

Salem Memorial Building, East State Street, Salem: A turkey dinner is planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday. Transportation to the Memorial Building and delivery to homes also are available for those who make requests in advance. Call (330) 337-3728.

Richard Brown United Methodist Church, 1205 Elm St., Youngstown: A free Thanksgiving Day dinner is planned from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. For transportation, call the church at (330) 743-5432.

Salvation Army, 1501 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown: A free Thanksgiving dinner is planned from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today. No identification or proof of income is required.

Highway Tabernacle Church, 3000 S. Raccoon Road, Youngstown: A community dinner is planned at 6 p.m. today.

Way Station, 769 Springfield Road, Columbiana: A community Thanksgiving dinner is planned at 1 p.m. today.

Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, Youngstown: A free Thanksgiving Day fellowship and dinner will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at E.B. Family Life Center, 7 S. Garland Ave. Call the church at (330) 746-7190 to reserve a space.

The St. Vincent de Paul dining hall, 208 W. Front St., Youngstown: A dinner will be served from 10:30 a.m. to noon Thursday.
