Sports facility fund drive

McDONALD — The McDonald High School Alumni Association will have a public meeting at 7 p.m. Dec. 1 at the high school auditorium to get community support for its plan to raise $500,000 toward construction of a new sports facility.

The funding drive is being called “Project Blue” by the alumni association.

Focusing on what it sees as “a growing need in our community for improved athletic fields and facilities,” the association says on its Web site, www.friendsofmhs.com, that 85 percent of McDonald students use the school’s athletic fields and facilities for athletics or marching band.

School board member Jeff Hughes, who is also liaison to the alumni association committee, said the purpose of the meeting is to “get people to rally around” the project and fund-raising efforts.
