Lee tabbed Indians Man of Year

CLEVELAND — Cliff Lee has added another award to his off-season haul.

The Indians’ left-hander, who recently won the AL Cy Young Award, was named the unanimous choice as Cleveland’s Man of the Year by the local chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America.

Long-time bullpen coach Luis Isaac, fired after the season after more than 40 years with the organization, was selected as winner of the Steve Olin Good Guy Award for his cooperation with the media.

Lee went 22-3 and was baseball’s most dominant pitcher one season after he won just five games, was demoted to the minor league and left off the Indians’ postseason roster. Lee, who started the All-Star game at Yankee Stadium, was also the league’s comeback player of the year.

He became Cleveland’s first 20-game winner since Gaylord Perry in 1974 and second straight Cy Young winner, following CC Sabathia.

The only other player nominated was All-Star center fielder Grady Sizemore, who hit 33 homers, stole 38 bases and won his second straight Gold Glove.
