Zarkovics celebrate 50th with family at surprise party

• YOUNGSTOWN — Mr. and Mrs. Desimir Zarkovic of Youngstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 8 at the Holy Trinity Serbian Memorial Hall.

A surprise party was hosted for the couple by their family, daughter Svetlana and son-in-law Ljubordrag Andjelkovich, son Miodrag “Mike” Zarkovic, and grandchildren Maja and Mile Andjelkovich and Ivana, Milana and Tijana Zarkovic.

The Zarkovics were married in Lesevo, near Kraljevo, Serbia, in 1958. Mr. Zarkovic, who is known as Denny, worked in Germany and France before coming to the United States and settling in Youngstown in 1976. He was joined by his wife, Stanisava, known as Stella, and son Mike in 1978. The couple are members of the Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church of Youngstown.

Mr. Zarkovic is the owner of Zarkovic Construction Co.

Mrs. Zarkovic retired from Forum Health North Side Hospital, where she worked in the housekeeping department for 18 years. She is a member of the Circle of Serbian Sisters.
