• BAKERSTOWN, Pa. — Shirley A. Brown and Richard D. Sallmen Sr. were united in marriage on Sept. 19 during a 3 p.m. ceremony officiated by the Rev. Dennis Molnar at First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown.

After a reception at The Atrium in Prospect, Pa., the couple left on a wedding trip to the Bahamas.They live at 159 Estate Lane, Enon Valley, Pa.

The bride is a daughter of Barbara A. Brown, 101 Providence Court, Valencia, Pa., and the late Arthur R. Brown. Parents of the groom are John and Shirley Sallmen, Old Princeton Road, New Castle, Pa.

The bride’s ivory gown was embellished with lace and pearls.

Navy-blue gowns were worn by the honor attendant, Lynn McNamee of Hagerstown, Md., and the bridesmaids, Maggie Mae Hickey of Butler, Pa., and Samantha Brown of Valencia, nieces of the bride, and Nicole Sallmen of New Castle, daughter of the groom.

Best man was the groom’s son, Richard Sallmen Jr. of New Castle, and ushers were John Sallmen of New Castle, the groom’s brother, and Timothy Hickey of Butler, nephew of the bride.

A graduate of Slippery Rock University with a bachelor’s degree in communications, Mrs. Sallmen is the assistant design desk chief with The Vindicator. Mr. Sallmen is an ultrasound technician with Ipsco Koppel Tubulars Corp. in Beaver Falls, Pa. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps and attended Shenango Valley School of Business.
