SENIOR SIDELIGHTS


SCOPE Niles Senior Center, 14 E. State St., has the following activities available: Monday — final computer class at McKinley House at 9:30 a.m., beginning bridge at 10, arthritis exercise at 11 ($1), quilting at 1 p.m., Monday night cards, games and food at 4, ( $2) and TOPS meeting at 5; Tuesday – light breakfast at 9 a.m. ($2), square dancing at 9:30 ($3), lunch at 11:30 a.m. ($3 for members and for $4 for guests), and card games at 2:30; Wednesday — trip to Wheeling Downs from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., lunch at 11:30 a.m. ($3 for members $4 for guests) and a speaker from the State Highway Patrol, bingo at 1 p.m. with Shepherd of the Valley, Texas Hold’em at 1 and cards at 2:30; and Thursday and Friday — closed for Thanksgiving holidays. Senior Independence Senior Center of Mahoning County, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, has planned the following activities: Monday, Men’s and Women’s Needlecraft Club at 8:30 a.m., and bridge at 1 p.m.; Tuesday, oil painting at 10 a.m., computer class at 10 and noon, cornhole practice at 1:15 p.m. and digital club at 2; Wednesday, watercolor class at 10 a.m., computer at 10 and noon, tai chi at noon and 500 cards at 1 p.m.; Thursday, closed for Thanksgiving Day. Special dates: Monday, Festival of Trees trip to John S. Knight in Akron; Tuesday, Youngstown Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 25; Wednesday, Austintown Fun Day 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Home Energy Assistance Program applications are available at the center.
