NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. — Junior forward Ryne Murray earned a spot on the All-Buzz Ridl Classic team for Westminster after he bucketed a game-high 26 points on 9-20 shooting and 3-7 shooting from 3-point range. Murray also pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds including 10 in the first half. The Titans fell to 0-4 and Wesley improved to 1-2. Carnegie Mellon won the Buzz Ridl Classic after beating Westminster (70-65) and Wesley (90-77) on Thursday and Friday, respectively. Junior forward Steve Bielich scored 21 points on 7-9 shooting from the floor.
Grove City 76, Salisbury 67
CARLISLE, Pa. — Senior guard Joe McCoy fired in five three-point goals as part of a 21-point outing for Grove City (1-1) in the consolation game of Dickinson College’s Pizza Hut Tip-Off Tournament. Senior guard Ryan Gibson (North Canton/Hoover) fired in 14 points while freshman forward Drew Vandermeer (Clarion, Pa./Clarion) added 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Thiel 86, Penn State Beaver 78
PITTSBURGH — Three Thiel College players scored 19 points or more as the Tomcats earned their first win of the season on the second day of the Chron’s Classic on the campus of La Roche College. Devon Adams scored 26, Brandon Mirizio scored 21, and Roddy Fuller scored 19 to lead the Tomcats
Mount Union 85, Geneva 69
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. — All five starters scored in double figures as Mount Union College moved to 3-0 after the title game of the Tornado Tip-Off Tournament. Seniors in Chris Switzer and Luke Conley led the Purple Raiders with 21 and 16 points, while the trio of senior Jay Mathis, junior Sam King and sophomore Dave Pellerite each tallied 14 points.

HIRAM — Sophomore guard Chris Roberts scored a game-high 31 points to the Terriers (1-0).

Mount Union 74, Allegheny 63
MEADVILLE, Pa. — Mount Union forced 29 Allegheny College turnovers in the championship game of the National City Tip-Off Tournament. Freshman Amanda Rose scored 14 points and had four steals as she was named to the all-tournament team, while senior Stephanie Schwartz (Farmdale/Maplewood) scored 10 points on five-of-six shooting and was named tournament MVP to lead the Raiders. Junior Tessa Pohovey and freshman Kori Wiedt each had 10 points to round out the double figure scorers for Mount Union (2-0).
St. Bonaventure 71, Akron 67
AKRON — Behind a career day from Kara Murphy, the Zips nearly erased a 17-point, second half deficit at Rhodes Arena. Murphy, who scored 21 of her game-high 32 points in the second half, led a furious 17-2 UA rally that cut the Bonnies’ lead to two, 63-61, with 1:15 to play. But an Akron turnover and four SBU free throws on the next three possessions proved to be the difference as St. Bonaventure escaped with the four-point win.

BLUFFTON — Sophomore forward Kim Stitt scored 14 points, grabbed 10 boards and blocked five shots. Senior Amber Bodrick (Mooney High) scored 16 while seniors Catie Sieber and Jena Cook scored 11 and 13, respectively. Freshman forward Towanda-Michelle Warren contributed 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting to the victory. The Tomcats defense stifled St. Mary holding them to shooting 30 percent from the field and turning the ball over 25 times.
California (Pa.) 82, Saginaw Valley State 66
UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. — Senior Lindsay Johnson (New Springfield, /Springfield) and sophomore Kayla Smith each scored 21 points. The Vulcans responded from a loss earlier in the week to improved to 3-1 this season, while the Cardinals fell to 1-2 overall. Johnson posted her second-straight, 20-point game after making 9-of-16 attempts from the floor with five rebounds (four offensive) against Saginaw Valley State. Smith tallied a season-high 21 points on 10-of-16 shooting with seven rebounds (three offensive).
