URSULINE LIVE | Irish win 35-6

NEW PHILADELPHIA — The Ursuline High football team advanced to the Division V state final for the second straight year, defeating Baltimore Liberty Union 35-6 in a state semifinal Saturday at Woody Hayes Stadium.

The top-ranked Irish (14-0) will play third-ranked Findlay Liberty-Benton (14-0), which defeated defending champion Maria Stein Marion Local in Saturday’s other semifinal. Liberty Benton has never won a state championship.

Liberty Union got on the board midway through the fourth quarter on a 3-yard run by Dustin Love, but the kick was blocked, making it 28-6.

Allen Jones answered with a 43-yard TD scamper -- it was a thing of beauty -- to make it 35-6 with 5:33 left.
