Game notes: The Penguins have dropped two straight but have been competitive in both games, most recently a 73-49 loss at Maryland. Junior college transfer Sirlester Martin leads the Penguins in scoring (11.5 points) and leads the Horizon League in rebounding (9.0). Senior Jack Liles averages 11 points and has played in 84 consecutive games. He needs 369 points, 86 rebounds and 14 blocks to become the first player in school history to reach 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 100 blocks in a career. Allegheny lost its opener to Fredonia State 64-55, but bounced back to beat Medgar Evers 88-61. George Raftis, who led the conference in rebounds a year ago with 8.7 per game, leads the Gators with 14.0 points and 10.5 rebounds. The series: The series is tied 3-3, but the teams haven’t played since 1935. Allegheny won the first three games in the series which began in 1930, while the Penguins have won the last three, including a 33-29 win in Youngstown in 1935. Next up: The Penguins will play at Robert Morris University at 7 p.m. Tuesday. YSU opens a three-game home series on Nov. 29 against St. Francis, Pa., at 7:05 p.m. at Beeghly Center.
