Scrappers release schedule

NILES — The Mahoning Valley Scrappers will have six Thursday Buck Nights, six Friday night fireworks shows and six Sunday games with an earlier start of 5:05 p.m. during their 2009 schedule, which was released Friday.

The Scrappers’ first six games will be at Eastwood Field, beginning with the June 19 opener against the Jamestown Jammers.

Manager Travis Fryman will return for his second season at the helm. His staff will include pitching coach Ken Rowe, who is back for his sixth season. Rowe coached Mahoning Valley from 2001-02 and 2006-08.

Coach Anthony Medrano (2007-08) and athletic trainer Issei Kamada are also back.

Phil Clark, who spent last season as a coach for the Gulf Coast League Indians, will join the staff for the first time.
