Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, Pete Wentz have baby

NEW YORK — Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz are the proud parents of a baby boy, and they’re celebrating with some Bronx cheer. Their representative says the pop and rock star couple have named their son Bronx Mowgli. The baby, born Thursday night, weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces.

Bronx is the first child for Simpson-Wentz, best known for the hit “Pieces of Me,” and Wentz, bassist for the platinum rock band Fall Out Boy. They were married earlier this year.

‘Twilight’ disappointment works out fine for fan

NEW YORK — Sometimes it pays to have your heart broken. An 18-year-old who was among some 3,000 teens turned away from an autograph session with “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson when the crowd at a San Francisco mall grew unruly was surprised during a Thursday taping of “The Tyra Banks Show” — by Pattinson himself.

Oh yeah, and she won the young vampire’s Volvo, too. “This is the best thing that has ever happened to me in my entire life,” Tiffany Kuhne said after the taping of the show, which will air next Friday.

Police canceled a Nov. 10 autograph session at the Stonestown Galleria when 3,000 people — mostly teenage girls, and hundreds more than expected — arrived early and began pushing their way inside. At least one girl was injured.

“The Tyra Banks Show” flew Kuhne and two other teenagers involved in the crush to New York for a “Twilight”-themed show — though they had no idea that Pattinson and co-star Taylor Lautner would be there.

The film stars then encouraged the girls as they participated in a pie-eating contest, with the prize being “Twilight memorabilia.”

Kuhne won and was blindfolded and led outside to discover that the “memorabilia” she’d won was the Volvo that Pattinson’s character drives in the movie, which opened Friday.

Actress Sienna Miller wins battle with agency

LONDON — British actress Sienna Miller has won $79,000 from a photo agency she was suing on grounds of harassment.

Miller’s lawyer David Sherborne says the out-of-court settlement covers her two complaints against Big Pictures U.K. Ltd.

The agency also has agreed not to follow her or photograph her at home or in her garden.

Twenty-six-year-old Miller and the agency informed a court about the settlement Friday.

Miller, whose on-and-off relationship with ex-fianc Jude Law made her an overnight celebrity, has appeared in the films “Casanova,” “Factory Girl” and “Layer Cake.”

Allen Williams of Big Pictures U.K. Ltd. confirmed that the agency had reached a settlement with Miller and had no further comment to make.

History museum reopens after 2-year renovation

WASHINGTON — The National Museum of American History has reopened after a two-year, $85 million renovation.

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell read President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address on Friday morning to a crowd of at least 200 people on the museum’s steps.

Costumed historic characters portraying George and Martha Washington, among others, are on hand for a three-day festival to celebrate the reopening.

Inside, visitors found favorite exhibits such as Kermit the Frog and a gallery devoted to the American presidency.

A line quickly formed outside the Star-Spangled Banner gallery. The museum opened with the firing of a cannon from the era when the poem that became the national anthem was written in 1814.

Food critic loses her job

NEW YORK — One of New York City’s most famous food critics is out of a job.

New York magazine confirmed Thursday that Gael Greene — known for her flamboyant hats and influential opinions — is no longer working for the publication.

Magazine spokeswoman Lauren Starke says that in a “tightening economy, our company is simply no longer able to support four separate restaurant critics.” Three other critics remain.

There was no immediate response to an e-mail sent to Greene.

Greene was the magazine’s chief restaurant critic from 1968 to 2002. After that, she wrote a weekly column called “Insatiable Critic.”

Starke says this is Greene’s last week at the magazine, and her last review will be in Monday’s issue.
