BEAVER FALLS, Pa. — Freshman guard Ryan Thompson scored a season-high 12 points for Mount Union (2-0) in the opening round of the Geneva College Tornado Tip-Off. Jimmy Wood added 11 for the Purple Raiders, who took a 46-13 halftime lead over New Kensington (0-3).
Geneva 104, Philadelphia Biblical University 58
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. — David Phillips (10 points) and Lambros Svingos (13 points) made successful freshmen debuts for Geneva (1-0), which took a 52-26 halftime lead. Brandon Harvey scored 18 points to lead the Tornadoes, who got scoring contributions from 14 players. Tom Arthur scored 14 points to lead Philadelphia (0-3).
Dickinson 69, Grove City 65
CARLISLE, Pa. — Junior center Andy O’Keefe led Grove City with 12 points while senior guard Joe McCoy fired in 11, including three 3-point goals in a loss in the semifinals of the Pizza Hut Tip-Off Tournament. Grove City (0-1) trailed by as many as 14 in the second half but rallied to within three points on three separate occasions. However, the Wolverines could not complete the comeback. Grove City trailed 33-24 at halftime after producing just six first-half field goals. The Wolverines shot 24 percent (6 of 25) from the field in the first half. Dickinson extended its lead to 14, 48-34, with 13 minutes left in the game. The Wolverines eventually slashed the lead to 55-52 on a jumper from freshman Drew Vandermeer with 5:13 left. Dickinson held off the Wolverines down the stretch, though. Freshman guard Brett Matson added 10 points in his collegiate debut. Senior guard Ryan Gibson added eight points and a team-high eight rebounds. Kizmahr Grell led the Red Devils with 17 points.
Penn State Behrend 71, Bethany 66
ERIE, Pa. — Drew Seker scored 17 points and Adam Kaiser added 16 to lead Penn State Benhrend (2-1), which led 38-28 at halftime. Casey Palermo (Ursuline) had nine points for Bethany (1-1) and Tyler Morando had 17.

Grove City 60, Ursinus 52
GRANTHAM, Pa. — Junior forward Laura Miller fired in 15 points to lead Grove City while sophomore Christine Slater added 12 points and a game-high eight rebounds in a loss in the semifinals of Messiah College’s Wingate Inn Tournament at Brubaker Auditorium. Ursinus’ Carolyn Konstanzer led all scorers with 26 points. Grove City (0-2) owned a 30-23 halftime lead and led by as many as nine in the second half. However, the Wolverines shot just 25 percent (8 of 32) from the field in the second half. Meanwhile, Ursinus (1-0) made 13 of 26 (50 percent) shots from the field in the second half. Grove City closed the first half on a 12-2 run as Miller capped the run with her first three-point goal of the season in the closing moments of the half. The Wolverines pushed their lead to 39-32 with 16:24 left as freshman guard Megan Gebrosky drained a 3-pointer. Ursinus took the lead for good with a 12-1 spurt, though, as the Wolverines went 9 minutes and 32 seconds without a field goal. For the game, Grove City shot 21 of 60 (35 percent) while Ursinus made 23 of 50 (46 percent) field goal attempts. Ursinus out-rebounded Grove City 38-35. Each team had 21 turnovers.
Mt. Vernon 77, Thiel 48
GREENVILLE, Pa. — Tomcat freshman, Towanda-Michelle Warren scored a team-high 12 points, while sophomore forward, Kim Stitt added seven points, 10 rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots in the loss. Lauren Johnson scored 28 points and Amanda Himes had 19 in the victory.
Hiram 61, Ursuline 59
PEPPER PIKE, Ohio — Brittany Mayle scored 14 points and Alex Dellas added 10 for Hiram, which outscored Ursuline 28-22 in the second half. Jessica Wood (Champion) scored 18 points to lead Ursuline, while Whitney Blackburn had 11.

MEADVILLE, Pa. — Katie Crider scored 17 points and Stephanie Schwartz added 12 to lead Mount Union (1-0), which took a 47-18 halftime lead. Angela Pucciarelli scored 10 points for Fredonia State (0-1).
