FREE TURKEY DINNERS | When and where


Churches and other area groups are offering free community Thanksgiving dinners before or on the holiday.

Bristolville United Methodist Church, Routes 45 and 88, Bristolville: A community dinner is planned from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. The church is handicapped-accessible. Takeouts will be available. For information, call the church at (330) 889-3181.

McGuffey Road Church of Christ, 1101 Miami Ave., Youngstown: A community Thanksgiving dinner is planned from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday. Transportation is available by calling Shirley Jackson at (330) 743-3661 or Mike Jordan at (330) 788-3504. There also will be distribution of free hats, gloves and school supplies to those up to 18 years old.

Salem Memorial Building, East State Street, Salem: A turkey dinner is planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. Transportation to the Memorial Building and delivery to homes also are available for those who make requests in advance. Call (330) 337-3728.

Price Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Church, 920 Dryden Ave., Youngstown: A traditional Thanksgiving dinner with the trimmings will be offered from noon to 2 p.m. today by the church’s food ministry. The event is for community residents and those in need.

Salvation Army, 1501 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown: A free Thanksgiving dinner is planned from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. No identification or proof of income is required.

Highway Tabernacle Church, 3000 S. Raccoon Road, Youngstown: A community dinner is planned at 6 p.m. Wednesday. To reserve a seat, call the church at (330) 792-3000 by Monday.

Way Station, 769 Springfield Road, Columbiana: A community Thanksgiving dinner is planned at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Those planning to attend should call (330) 482-5072 to sign up by today.
