SUMMER SIMS/JOSEPH VRONA III


• KO OLINA, Hawaii — The Ko Olina Chapel Place of Joy was the setting at 3 p.m. July 20 as Summer Sims, a daughter of Charlene and Norman Janicki of Honolulu and Dr. Joel Sims of Tampa, Fla., and Joseph J. Vrona III, a son of Joseph and Bonnie Vrona of Campbell, were united in marriage.

Officiant for the wedding ceremony was the Rev. Elias, and the couple accepted congratulations afterward at the Hale Koa Hotel in Honolulu. They were also feted at a reception in August at St. Lucy Church in Campbell.

The couple live in Las Vegas and will take a wedding trip to Fiji in April 2009.

The bride wore a strapless ivory ball gown fashioned with a ruched bodice and chapel train.

Red gowns were worn by Sarah Sims, the bride’s sister and honor attendant, and the bridesmaids, Keao Chang, Aleathia Cezar and I’Ini Nicholas. Flower girl was Veronica Romeo, a cousin of the groom.

The duties of best man were performed by the groom’s brother, Justin Vrona, and serving as groomsmen were Rick Gozur; John Sims, the bride’s brother; and Pat Chorak. Ring bearer was the bride’s cousin, Ian McFadden.

Mrs. Vrona earned bachelor’s degrees in nursing and psychology at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas and is a registered supervisor at Montevista Hospital in Las Vegas.

Mr. Vrona graduated from Youngstown State University with a degree in criminal justice and is a Nevada state trooper.
