Kent St. 76, Saint Louis 74, OT

ST. LOUIS — Al Fisher scored 16 of his team’s 17 points in overtime and hit the game-winning layup with 2.1 seconds left for Kent State. Fisher was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field in the overtime session for Kent State (2-0) and finished with a game-high 35 points. Kevin Lisch scored 22 points to lead Saint Louis (1-1), which also got 19 points and 12 rebounds from Tommie Liddell III. Trailing by four, the Billikens took a 36-30 lead with 13:32 left in the game on a jumper by Barry Eberhardt. Kent State then tied at 36-36 and neither team led by more than three points after that. The Golden Flashes had a chance to win it in regulation when Fisher hit a driving shot in the lane to tie it at 60-60 while being fouled by Eberhardt. But Fisher missed the free throw and Lisch’s long 3-pointer at the buzzer was long, sending the game to overtime.

HORIZON LEAGUE

Butler 64, Ball St. 55

INDIANAPOLIS — Matt Howard scored 15 points and Butler held off a Ball State rally late in the first half. The Bulldogs (2-0) led by 12 early in the game, but the Cardinals (1-1) pulled within 31-29 after a 3-pointer by Brandon Lampley and then a layup at the halftime buzzer by Eric Wormley. A 3-pointer by Ronald Nored started a 9-0 Butler run at the beginning of the second half, and the Bulldogs stayed in front the rest of the way. Garrett Butcher and Gordon Hayward added 9 points each for Butler. Anthony Newell led Ball State with 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Jarrod Jones added 14 points and 12 rebounds.

OHIO

Dayton 62, Delaware St. 42

DAYTON — Chris Wright scored 18 points as Dayton pulled away in the second half. Dayton (2-0) scored 30 points off turnovers and brought down 41 rebounds to Delaware State’s 28. The Flyers expanded a 28-21 halftime lead with the help of six second-half 3-pointers and were ahead by as many as 28 points in the game’s closing minutes. Rob Lowery scored nine points and had four steals, while Wright and Kurt Huelsman each grabbed seven rebounds for Dayton. Eleven players scored for the Flyers. Donald Johnson scored 11 points while Arturo Dubois had nine points and eight rebounds for the Hornets (1-3).
