NHL roundup \ Tuesday’s other games

Panthers 4, Lightning 3, SO

TAMPA, Fla. — Bryan McCabe scored twice in regulation and Nathan Horton had the lone goal in a shootout for Florida against Tampa Bay. Tomas Vokoun made 49 saves, and David Booth added a goal for the Panthers, who have won three of four following a six-game losing streak. Tampa Bay, which trailed by three goals in the second period, tied it at 3 when Steve Eminger snapped a 63-game, goal-scoring drought with 2:51 left in the third. Radim Vrbata and Evgeny Artyukhin also scored for Tampa Bay, which has lost five in a row — including two straight in shootouts — under interim coach Rick Tocchet.

Hurricanes 2, Canadiens 1

RALEIGH, N.C. — Sergei Samsonov and Ray Whitney scored 3 1/2 minutes apart in the third period to help the Hurricanes rally. Whitney followed Samsonov’s first goal of the season with the go-ahead score with 13:27 remaining to jump-start a Carolina offense that averaged fewer than two goals in its previous six games. Robert Lang scored for the Canadiens, who snapped a lengthy power-play drought yet lost for the third time in four games. Montreal’s Carey Price made a career-high 46 saves and stopped the first 30 shots he faced.
