Raid in Warren nets drugs

WARREN — Police raided the home of a 57-year-old Citadel Drive Northeast man after a year-long drug investigation and seized 13 bottles of prescription pills, including OxyContin, methadone, Carisoprodol, Olprazolam and others.

Officers with the Warren Police Department Narcotics Unit obtained a search warrant after an investigation during which agents made undercover buys of controlled substances, Lt. Thomas Skoczylas said.

Officers also seized a small amount of cash and drug paraphernalia, including several suspected “owe sheets,” which are papers used by drug dealers that contain the names of individuals who owe money.

The 57-year-old resident of the home was not arrested, pending further investigation and lab results on the items taken from the home, police said.

Nine weather-related accidents reported

WARREN — Slippery road conditions were listed as the cause of nine traffic accidents in Trumbull County early Tuesday morning.

The Warren Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said that between the hours of 6 and 10 a.m., officers responded to nine accidents, with one possible injury.

Officers said a man lost control of his car Tuesday morning, most likely because of road conditions, and hit a tree on County Road 203 in Warren.

No accidents were reported during Tuesday evening hours.

On Monday, state troopers from the post were called to at least 20 weather-related accidents.

BP station robbed

YOUNGSTOWN — A man with a gun held up a cashier at the BP gas station, 2069 E. Midlothian Boulevard, and made his getaway Monday evening in a gold minivan that had been parked nearby, police said.

The man first asked for a pack of cigarettes and then showed the handle of a gun — saying, “Give me the money” to the clerk, reports show. The clerk took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and gave it to him, along with four packs of cigarettes.

Police followed fresh footprints in the snow to a business parking lot and learned from employees the gold minivan that had been parked there drove off westbound. Detectives were expected to review the gas station’s surveillance video.
