Testa, Petkovski propel Bethany past LaRoche


BETHANY, W. Va. — Joe Testa scored 21 points and Petre Petkovski added 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead Bethany College over LaRoche, 77-61, in the season opener for both teams Monday.

Tyler Morando added 14 points and Carey Palermo (Ursuline) scored two for the Bison, the defending Presidents’ Athletic Conference champions. The game also marked the debut for new Bethany coach Mike Summey.

Grazier Dylan scored 13 points for La Roche, which trailed 44-25 at halftime. Nate Wojciechowski added 11 points and Joel McIntosh scored 10.

Geneva 74, La Roche 63

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Renee Rawding scored 20 points before leaving with a foot injury for the Golden Tornadoes (2-0).

Michawn Rich added 16 points, nine points and five assists for Geneva, which was 30-of-41 at the foul line. Val Hamilton finished with nine points and 11 rebounds.

La Roche, which trailed 34-32 at halftime, was led by Chloe Stewart with 21 points and Jaquaylla Kessler with 20. Kessler and Charonda Ransaw added eight rebounds apiece.
