Miley Cyrus is victim of Internet death hoax

NEW YORK — No need to grieve, tweens: Miley Cyrus is not dead.

The “Hannah Montana” star, who is alive and well, was the victim of an Internet hoax over the weekend when someone hacked into her YouTube account and posted a video alleging she’d been killed by a drunken driver.

The video, which has been taken down, had a fake message from Cyrus pal Mandy Jiroux, who swiftly denied the rumor in a posting on her official MySpace page.

Wrote Jiroux: “MILEY IS OK!! Some1 hacked our youtube account.”

More proof: The Associated Press interviewed Cyrus at the Los Angeles junket for the Disney animated film “Bolt” on Sunday night. She voices a 12-year-old TV actress in the movie, which hits theaters Nov. 21.

Obama causes spike in ‘60 Minutes’ ratings

NEW YORK — The campaign is over, but Barack Obama is still a TV hit.

CBS’ “60 Minutes” had its highest overnight ratings in nearly a decade with Sunday’s episode featuring Steve Kroft interviewing the president-elect and future first lady. Nielsen Media Research’s preliminary estimate the show was seen by 24.5 million people on Sunday.

That’s more than any other episode of a prime-time show seen this season, and the biggest audience for “60 Minutes” since January 1999.

Sunday’s “60 Minutes” was likely helped by being immediately preceded by a down-to-the-wire NFL game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and San Diego Chargers.
