Martins celebrate 50th anniversary in Las Vegas, Nev.


• YOUNGSTOWN — Mr. and Mrs. Jackie Martin, 706 Broadway Ave., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 13 during a vacation trip to Las Vegas.

The trip was an anniversary gift from their children, Joy Martin, Joan Martin, Jeri Martin, and Jumaal McQueen, all of Youngstown; Jacqueline and Richard Smith of Glendale, Ariz.; and Sylvia D. Harbin of Columbus; and the couple’s 18 grandchildren. Completing the family are10 great-grandchildren.

The former Janet Fraiser and Mr. Martin were united in marriage on Nov. 15, 1958, in Youngstown. They are members of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where he is serving his second term as a trustee.

Mrs. Martin retired in July of 1994 from General Motors in Lordstown. She is the secretary of the Zodiac Club and a member of several bowling leagues.

Mr. Martin served with the U. S. Army from 1954 to 1957. He retired in March of 1985 as a press operator with Republic Steel Manufacturing in Niles. He is director of Youngstown Men’s Bowling Association and a trustee of the church.
