MERCER, Pa. — The Friends of Children’s Aid Society invites the public to its annual Christmas Celebration for Children from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 4 and 5 at the Children’s Aid Society, 350 W. Market St.

The event will feature homemade rolls, breads, pies, cookies and candy, as well as white elephant Christmas items and craft items for Christmas giving.

Orders are being taken until Nov. 28 for poinsettias in four colors and fresh evergreen wreaths, door or window swags and white pine roping.

They may be picked up during the fundraising event. Extra evergreens and poinsettias will be available for sale.

This Christmas fundraiser will aid the agency’s Christmas giving. During the 2007 Christmas season, Children’s Aid Society provided 2,184 families and children with toys, clothing and necessities.

The Christmas fundraiser helped the agency with $1,400 toward this service. Also with the support of the public, the Friends provided $15,500 in the past year for needs at the society.
