MEN

Penn State Behrend 77, Westminster 55

ERIE, Pa. — Freshman forward Rob Briggs posted a double-double in his Westminster debut. Briggs came off the bench and recorded game highs of 10 rebounds and 17 points on 8-of-14 shooting. Junior forward Ryne Murray was the other Titan to score in double figures with 14 points on 6-of-16 shooting to go with seven rebounds. The Titans shot 36.4 percent (24-of-66) from the floor. Behrend shot 45.2 percent (28-of-62) and allowed Westminster to hold a 45-34 rebound advantage. However, the Titans were victimized by 18 turnovers as the Lions had just nine turnovers. Adam Potter and Pat St. Andrews led the Lions with 15 points apiece.

Indiana (Pa.) 73, Thiel 43

INDIANA, Pa. — The Tomcats managed to keep the contest close early on, but a 17-0 run by the Crimson Hawks in the first half put the game out of reach. Thiel was ice cold from the floor in the first half shooting just 29 percent, but warmed up in the second half to shoot 42 percent. In the end, IUP’s 31 points of off 25 Thiel turnovers proved too much to overcome. Junior Nick Sefscik and sophomore Tommy Hall (Campbell) led Thiel offensively with 10 points apiece. Sefscik pulled down a team-high six rebounds for the Tomcats. IUP’s Thomas Young led all scorers with 22 points.

Slippery Rock 193, Ohio University-Eastern 63

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Denell Stephens scored 25 points, Michael Evans Jr. 23 and Jamar Scales 20 to lead the winning effort in Kevin Reynolds’ first game as SRU’s coach. The Rock held a 60-24 advantage at halftime and outscored the Panthers by a 43-39 margin in the final 20 minutes of action.

WOMEN

Kutztown 66, Slippery Rock 51

KUTZTOWN, Pa. — Julie Molloy scored a team-high 10 points and Nikki Presto and Jess Schake each added nine for Slippery Rock in the opener of the KU tournament. Presto and senior post player Sasha Sales tied for team-high honors with 10 rebounds each, while Molloy and Schake each had nine rebounds. The Rock outrebounded Kutztown by a 54-46 margin but shot an frigid 26.4 percent (19 of 72) from the field, an icy 16.7 percent (2 of 12) from 3-point range and a lukewarm 55 percent (11 of 20) from the foul line. The Rock scored the first basket of the game and was tied with the Golden Bears at 16-16 with 4:30 left in the first half before the hosts went on a 14-5 run to take a 30-21 lead into intermission. SRU never trimmed the margin to less than eight points in the final 20 minutes of action.

Thiel 58, Pittsburgh-Bradford 52

BRADFORD, Pa. — It was business as usual for senior guard Amber Bodrick (Mooney) as she torched Bradford for 24 points, six rebounds and five steals. Catie Sieber finished with nine points and five rebounds, while Ashley Davis, Kim Sttit and Towanda-Michelle Warren each contributed six points to the effort. Bradford was led by Katie Moore who dropped in 20 points and grabbed five boards and Costanza Maria who tallied nine points, three assists and three steals.
