Avalon Holdings reports 3rd-quarter earnings

HOWLAND — Avalon Holdings Corp. earned $482,000 on net operating revenues of $14.3 million in the third quarter, compared with $547,000 on revenues of $12.1 million in the same quarter last year. Avalon Holdings provides waste management services to industrial, commercial, municipal and governmental customers and owns the Avalon Golf and Country Club, which operates three area golf courses.

Ford to offer incentives in year-end clearance sale

DETROIT — Ford Motor Co. is preparing to offer car buyers employee pricing, plus cash rebates, on most 2008 and 2009 models as part of a year-end clearance sale, a person briefed on the incentives said Friday.

The offer, which will start Wednesday and run through Jan. 5, will exclude 2009 F-series pickups, the person said. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the incentives have not been publicly announced.
