Man dies after being injured in garage fire
HUBBARD — An elderly man injured in a fire in a home on Lewis-Seifert Road on Thursday evening has died.
A family member of Louis Krolopp, 78, who owned the home, said Krolopp died late Thursday night after being flown to Pittsburgh Mercy Hospital with burns to a large part of the front of his body.
Fire Chief John Clemente said Krolopp was in the garage portion of the home, cleaning and preparing rifles for hunting season after 5 p.m., when he somehow caught himself on fire. Clemente said Krolopp suffered burns on most of the front of his body.
Firefighters did find several hunting rifles in the shed area of the garage.
Trumbull road closing
LORDSTOWN — Tait Road, about a half-mile west of Highland Avenue, will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday for a culvert replacement, the Trumbull County Engineer reports. Detours involve Highland Avenue, Lane West Road and state Route 45.

Guilty plea in rape
YOUNGSTOWN — A Sebring man has pleaded guilty to one count of raping a teenage boy last year.
Dana D. Edwards, 45, of North 16th Street, entered his plea Friday before Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, who will sentence him at 9 a.m. Jan. 15. Edwards faces three to 10 years in prison.
Natasha K. Frenchko, assistant county prosecutor, said she made a plea agreement, in which she dropped two other rape counts against Edwards, to spare the victim from the ordeal of testifying in a trial.
Meeting on disaster plan
HOWLAND — The newly formed Disaster Plan Committee will be meeting at 10 a.m. Monday in the board room at Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital, 8747 Squires Lane N.E.
The committee has been meeting for the past several months trying to put together a feasible disaster plan that can be useful to Mahoning Valley residents. Should an emergency situation arise, some people would not know what to do.

Warren man wins lottery
YOUNGSTOWN — A Warren resident had one of three winning tickets sold in the $334,000 Rolling Cash 5 drawing Oct. 26. Brian R. Klapak won $111,335 for having a ticket that matched all five numbers.
After mandatory federal and state taxes totaling 31 percent, Klapak will receive a check for $76,820.
Klapak purchased the winning ticket from Parkman Road Sparkle. He used auto lotto. The wining numbers were 2-9-15-21-30. Located at 2587 Parkman Road N.W. in Warren, Parkman Road Sparkle receives a $500 agent bonus for selling a winning ticket.
William E. Vrabel of Youngstown also had a winning ticket. James Lanham of Columbus also claimed his prize. All three tickets were purchased using auto lotto.
OVI roadblock planned
Police will establish a roadblock somewhere in Mahoning County from 11 p.m. today until 3 a.m. Sunday to catch drunken drivers, officials of the Mahoning County Operating a Vehicle Impaired Task Force announced Friday.
