BUDGET CUTS
BUDGET CUTS
City of Warren
The following are details of the cuts included in a budget to be given to Warren City Council on Monday:
Layoffs: 50 to 60.
Departments: 15 to 20 workers each in the police and fire departments, plus layoffs in departments such as income tax, health department and mayor’s office — “literally every general fund department,” Mayor Michael O’Brien said. That excludes departments such as water, sewer and garbage collection that do not rely on money from the city to operate because they collect fees from customers who use their services.
Money saved: The city expects to cut $3 million in personnel costs and contracted services the city buys.
