McDONALD — The Royal Swan Club Swim Show will be at 7 p.m. today and Saturday at the high school, 600 Iowa Ave. Tickets are $3 and can be purchased at the door.

Proceeds help pay for costumes and the lights to illuminate the high school pool.

The Royal Swan Club is a synchronized swim group comprised of female students from McDonald High School, and has been in existence for more than 50 years. The swim show is an annual event.

The club was founded by the late Constance Marion. The school district’s swimming pool was renamed after her.

Firefighters injured

WARREN — Two firefighters were injured while fighting a vacant house fire early Thursday.

Lt. Bill Monrean fell through the first floor but caught himself before he went completely through while fighting the fire at 601 Washington St. near Elm Road. He suffered a leg and back injury and was treated at St. Joseph Health Center.

Firefighter Brian Gilger also suffered a strained lower back. Fire Chief Ken Nussle said he didn’t know how Gilger was injured.

The fire was reported at 4:20 a.m. in the three-story house, which was boarded up. The house was a total loss and the fire was termed suspicious.

‘Images of Youngstown’

YOUNGSTOWN — Weller Gallery at Fellows Riverside Gardens will present the opening of “Images of Youngstown” starting today.

Displayed as a collaborative effort between Mill Creek MetroParks and the Butler Institute of American Art in celebration of Fellows Riverside Gardens’ 50th anniversary, this exhibit features 18 works by 12 artists who have roots in the Mahoning Valley.

Images of the steel industry, landscapes and still lifes in various mediums make up the exhibit. Works from as early as 1918 and as recent as 2003 are included.

The works will remain on display through Jan. 4.
