Harlem Globetrotters set Chevy Centre date

YOUNGSTOWN — The Harlem Globetrotters will return to Chevrolet Centre at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 31.

Noted for their basketball wizardry, hilarious antics and fan interaction, the Globetrotters include Clown Prince of Basketball Special K. Daley; dribbling sensation Scooter Christensen; the gravity-defying Hi-Lite Bruton; fan favorite Ant Atkinson; ball handling expert Blenda Rodriguez; and El Gato Melendez, the first Puerto Rican-born player to play for the Globetrotters.

The show is sponsored by Campbell Soup Co., Spalding and America’s Best Contacts and Eyeglasses. Tickets start at $16 and are available at the Chevrolet Centre box office and ticketmaster.com. Individual and group ticket information can also be found online at harlemglobetrotters.com.

Chris Higbee Project concert at Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. — The Chris Higbee Project will give a benefit concert at 8:30 p.m. Nov. 22 in Orr Auditorium at Westminster College.

The proceeds will help fund spring break trip to Mississippi for the college’s chapter of Habitat for Humanity.

Chris Higbee was the founder and fiddler of the Povertyneck Hillbillies country band.

Tickets are $10 for Westminster students with ID, $20 for general admission, and $30 for reserved seats. Call the Celebrity Series box office at (724) 946-7354 for tickets.

“Doors,” a nationally touring Habitat photo exhibit, will be on display in the art gallery adjacent to Orr Auditorium for viewing. The gallery will open at 6:30 p.m.

Caroline Oltmanns plans piano recital

YOUNGSTOWN — Caroline Oltmanns, professor of music at Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music, will present her fall piano recital at 8 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Ford Family Recital Hall. This concert was originally scheduled for Sept. 22.

Oltmanns, an international Steinway artist, will perform a series of musical selections from Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin and South African composer James Wilding, who will be in attendance.

A native of Germany, Oltmanns has performed as a soloist throughout Europe, South Africa and North America. She recently released her third solo album. Her world premieres and recordings of commissioned concertos for piano and symphonic wind ensemble include works by James Wilding, Till McIvor Meyn, Edward Largent, Rainer Schmitz, Dave Morgan and Tom Janson.
