WARREN — Police said they planned to secure an arrest warrant today for a man suspected in the shooting of Cedric Brogden, 18, of Highland Avenue.
Brogden was hit in the arm by a shot fired from a passing car around 3 p.m. Tuesday as he walked near the intersection of Tod Avenue and Maple Street, police said. He was treated at St. Joseph Health Center.
Officers investigating the shooting were able to stop a car seen leaving the scene, but a passenger fled on foot, managing to escape.
Police said they talked to the two people still in the car and determined that the man who fled fired the shot that hit Brogden. They recovered a .22 caliber handgun form the car.
The suspect is facing a charge of felonious assault, police said.
This is the second time in just a few months that Brogden was shot, police said, noting that he was only recently released form a hospital after being shot five times in a shooting at the Hampshire House apartments on Fifth Avenue.
Police said Tuesday’s assault may have been retaliation in connection with a fatal shooting at Hampshire House.
