WARREN — Police have arrested a 31-year-old Roosevelt Street Northwest man in the near-fatal shooting of a 55-year-old Hall Street man.

Police arrested Christopher Moore about 4 p.m. Monday at his home and charged him with felonious assault. He will be arraigned early today in Warren Municipal Court, which was closed Tuesday for Veterans Day.

Police said Moore called 911 at 8:41 a.m. to report that David Petrosky of Hall Street, someone with whom he was familiar, had been shot in the head and might be dead.

Petrosky was taken to Cleveland Metro Health Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition Tuesday night.

In an interview with Moore later, Moore “gave an account of what happened” that described Moore’s involvement in the shooting, said Warren Detective Wayne Mackey.

“He gave us enough reason to charge him,” Mackey said. Police said they recovered the .45-caliber semiautomatic firearm that was used in the shooting, as well as a rifle.

Moore’s home is one block north of Petrosky’s. Petrosky lived alone in the two-story home, where he was found in a room off the kitchen on the first floor.

Mackey said the men had known each other “for a while” but would not specify how they knew each other. He said detectives have some ideas about what led to the confrontation.

Moore pleaded guilty to breaking and entering and possessing criminal tools in May 2007 and was sentenced to five years’ probation. He later violated the probation and a common pleas court judge placed him back on probation with additional sanctions.

He also was convicted in 1996 of aggravated burglary and spent time in the Northeast Ohio Community Alternative Program on Pine Avenue here.
