The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services was not responsible for Samuel “Joe the Plumber” Wurzelbacher’s state tax debt being made public, as stated in an editorial Tuesday. The tax information was secured by journalists through a public records request.

The OJFS is being investigated by State Inspector Tom Charles to determine who used state computers to access information about Wurzelbacher. Charles is also looking into JFS Director Helen Jones-Kelley’s alleged misuse of her state-assigned e-mail account.
