“Monarchy: The Royal Family at Work” (8 p.m., PBS): What’s it like to be among the British royal family? PBS’ “Monarchy: The Royal Family at Work” offers an inside look at the daily rituals and ancient traditions of the House of Windsor. Thanks to Queen Elizabeth II, the series’ producers were granted rare access to capture the daily duties of the royals, as well as the everyday people (such as footmen, ladies-in-waiting and Yeoman of the Guard, among the 1,100 people on the royal payroll) who keep this more than 400-year-old institution running smoothly. The six-hour miniseries explores the many internal functions of the British crown, including the state opening of Parliament, formal dinners, award ceremonies and presentations — more than 4,000 royal family events per year. “Monarchy” notes that the royal family represents one of the most powerful brands in the world, presided over by Queen Elizabeth II, who is seen managing what is revealed to be a very demanding business. The first two-hour installment airs tonight at 8.
