Shepherd of Valley honors veteran residents

HOWLAND — A recent Veterans Day program recognized Shepherd of the Valley residents who served in the armed forces.

Thirty-seven veterans from the four branches were honored. The group included four women, three Navy and one Army; one Air Force veteran who flew more than 20 missions during World War II; and an Army veteran who spent part of WWII as a POW.

Navy veteran Mary Grace Gabig was a flight nurse posted at the base on Guam during WWII.
