Facility for homeless men to be dedicated in Sharon

Facility for homeless men to be dedicated in Sharon

SHARON, Pa. — Joshua’s Haven City Mission, a new facility for homeless men, will be dedicated from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Ceremonies will begin at 2 p.m. and tours of the facility will follow. Refreshments will be served.

Parking will be available across the street on Sharpsville Avenue.

Three years ago, mission founder Sherry Masotto Swetz formed a nonprofit corporation with a board to start Joshua’s Haven.

She said she was concerned with the problem of hidden homelessness in Sharon and the lack of facilities here to help them. Her long-term plan is to seek public and private funding to support the shelter, which will initially house six men.

The men will receive life skills training and spiritual guidance while at the shelter so they can eventually return to a regular life.

For more information, call Swetz at (724) 983-0153.
