BOARDMAN — The Davis Family YMCA is offering a women’s getaway weekend of fun, pampering and relaxation at Camp Fitch from Friday through Sunday.

Activities will include spa treatments, such as hot tubs, massage, pedicures and manicures, horseback riding, dance classes, “chocolate heaven,” and quiet time. While the optional activities are designed for fun, the focus is for women to relax in a beautiful, natural setting while enjoying heated cabins with indoor bathrooms and shower facilities. Camp Fitch, in North Springfield, Pa., on the shores of Lake Erie, is owned and operated by the Youngstown YMCA. The cost of the get-away is $110 per person. Pregnancy class

AKRON — The Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Akron Children’s Hospital is offering “Taking Control: Managing Medical Conditions During Pregnancy,” the fourth and final seminar in its free Healthy Pregnancy Series, on Nov. 20 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the Considine Professional Building, 215 W. Bowery St.

The Healthy Pregnancy Series is customized for women with high-risk pregnancies. At this session, women with health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease, will learn how to minimize risk of complications, manage their chronic health issues and have a healthy pregnancy. Stroke survivor study

KENT — Kent State University is seeking male stroke survivors and their female caregiver to participate in a study funded by the National Institutes of Health. The goal of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the Online CARE for Stroke program. In this study, caregivers are given access to important information, education and support on how to better take care of their husbands and themselves.

The benefits of participating include resources to help a caregiver with a stroke survivor’s physical and emotional recovery. Also, information is available to assist in becoming more confident and competent as a spousal caregiver.

Each of the individuals in the couple will receive cash incentives up to $140 for their participation. There will be a drawing for a $150 prize for participants who complete the entire study. For more information, call toll-free at (866) 300-6657.

Dementia studies

YOUNGSTOWN — A free, four-week education/support group for families who have loved ones diagnosed with dementia is Nov. 24 and Dec. 1, 8 and 15 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Heritage Manor, 517 Gypsy Lane. The facilitator is Miriam Katz-Rabinowitz of Jewish Family Services. To register, call (330) 746-7929.

Flu shot clinic

WARREN — A flu shot clinic will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow at the Warren West Community Health Center, 716 Tod Ave.

Current Medicare and Medicaid cards will be accepted. Without Medicare or Medicaid, the shots will cost $20.
