No. Iowa crushes Missouri State


Southern Illinois beat Western Ill., 24-14, and South Dakota St. ripped Illinois St.

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Northern Iowa got two touchdowns each from Pat Grace and Corey Lewis and the Panthers’ defense limited Missouri State to just 81 total yards Saturday in a 42-0 Missouri Valley Football Conference win over the Bears.

Grace returned from an injury to pass for 141 yards and rush for 27 for UNI (8-2, 6-1). He scored on a 1-yard run in the first quarter and a 4-yard run late in the second.

Lewis led the Panthers in rushing with 188 yards on 24 carries. He scored twice in the third quarter on runs of 1 and 3 yards.

Derrick Law, who ran for 85 yards, scored on an 8-yard run and Craig James returned an interception 75 yards for a score.

The Panthers’ defense took charge early, limiting the Bears (3-6, 2-4) to just 3 yards rushing and 78 yards passing.

S. Illinois 24, W. Illinois 14.

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Southern Illinois cornerback Korey Lindsey returned an interception for a 48-yard touchdown to lead the Salukis.

Southern Illinois (7-2, 5-1 Missouri Valley Football Conference) held Western Illinois (5-4, 3-3 Missouri Valley Football Conference) scoreless in the first period of the game. Saluki running back Larry Warner opened the game with a 56-yard touchdown followed by another touchdown from Damian Sherman off a 3-yard pass from quarterback Chris Dieker.

Herb Donaldson put Western Illinois on the board with a 6-yard touchdown run in the second period. The score at the half was 14-7 Southern Illinois.

BROOKINGS, S.D. — South Dakota State quarterback Ryan Berry threw seven touchdowns passes, leading the Jackrabbits.

Berry was 17-for-29 for 237 yards for the Jackrabbits (6-4, 5-1). He had five TD pass in the first half, helping SDSU to a 38-14 lead at the break.

The Jackrabbits jumped out to a 24-0 lead after one quarter.
