Terlesky is U.S. Kids’ Ohio Player of the Year

BOARDMAN — For the third straight year, junior golfer Brian Terlesky Jr., has been named Ohio Player of the Year for U.S. Kids Golf.

Terlesky, a 9-year-old third grader at Stadium Drive Elementary School, has completed his U.S. Kids Fall Tour where he won seven of eight tournaments. He finished his season with 27 victories in the 31 tournaments he competed in, never finishing below fourth place.

He won the summer and fall U.S. Kids Golf Tours and has qualified to compete in the World U.S. Kids Tournament to be held next August in Pinehurst, N.C.

Terlesky, an avid Ohio State and Jim Tressel fan, has received a congratulatory letter from PGA Hall of Famer Jack Nicklaus, who is an Ohio State graduate.

Terlesky won his first five tournaments on the fall tour.

He won at Doylestown shooting a 2-under-par 34, then won in Grafton with a 4-under-par 32.

He followed that by shooting an even-par 36 at Thunderbird Hills to win and had a 2-under-par 35 to win at Oak Harbor. He won again at Thunderbird Hills with a 38.

His only non-win of the tour came at Brookside Golf Course in Elyria when he finished third after shooting a 40.

Terlesky bounced right back to win the final two events, first at Forest Hills Golf Course in Elyria with a 2-under-par 34. Then in the Fall Tour Championship at Thunderbird Hills in Huron, he shot 37 to capture the title and wrap up his third straight player of the year award.

He is the son of Brian and Christine Terlesky of Boardman.
