OSU president gets pay increase, bonus
COLUMBUS (AP) — The president of Ohio State University will receive a $27,000 pay increase and a bonus of $310,000 for his performance in the first year of his second term.
The board of trustees approved a plan Friday to raise president Gordon Gee’s base salary by 3.5 percent, from $775,000 to more than $802,000. They also approved a 40 percent performance bonus and a retirement supplement paid for by private donations.
Gee led Ohio State from 1990 to 1997 and returned last year when president Karen Holbrook resigned after five years.
In her final year, Holbrook had a base salary of $380,000 and a bonus of up to 25 percent.
Board chairman Gil Cloyd says Gee’s compensation honors his exemplary leadership and three decades of experience.
