Homosexuality and the church to be topic

YOUNGSTOWN — Dr. Jack Rogers, former moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A., will speak at 7 p.m. Nov. 19 at First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave. His topic will be his book, “Jesus, the Bible and Homosexuality: Explode the Myths, Heal the Church.”

Rogers, professor of theology emeritus at San Francisco Theological Seminary, has written nine other books on the historic creeds of the Christian churches.

In his 19th publication, he focuses on the controversial issue of the role of gay and lesbian Christians in church and society.

Rogers’ presentation is open to all; there will be questions and discussion.

The program is co-sponsored by the Mission Visioning Council of Eastminster Presbytery, the governing body of 55 Presbyterian churches in Northeast Ohio, and the Covenant Network.
