Unattended bedroom candle starts North Side fire


YOUNGSTOWN — A candle burning in the dining room of 29 Benita Ave. started a fire at the North Side home, the fire department said. The resident said she left the candle unattended and came downstairs when she heard the smoke detector Thursday morning. Reports show the fire started on a chair. The resident tried to put the fire out before calling 911. Damage was set at $20,000 to the house and contents.
