Top trooper, dispatcher chosen

SOUTHINGTON — The Warren Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol has chosen Trooper Douglas J. Bolen as 2008 post trooper of the year and dispatcher Michelle D. Higgins as 2008 dispatcher of the year.

Bolen and Higgins were selected by their peers and supervisors. The selection criteria is based on technical knowledge, work attitude and personal attributes.

Bolen is a lifelong Warren resident. He is active with his family and enjoys outdoor activities, especially hunting and fishing.

He will represent the Warren post at the district level, where he’ll compete against other troopers from Northeast Ohio for the 2008 District 4 trooper of the year award.

Higgins has been a member of the Ohio State Highway Patrol for five years. She has two children, Abbagail, 10, and Kaitlyn, 13. She is from Mecca, is a Girl Scout leader for the Lake to River Council and is active in patrol educational efforts, including mock crashes and the teen driving program.

Higgins will also represent the Warren Post at the district level.
