NHL ROUNDUP Thursday’s other games

Rangers 5, Senators 2

NEW YORK — Chris Drury had two of New York’s three power-play goals and finished his hat trick with a short-handed score to help the Rangers beat Tampa Bay for the third time this season. Ryan Callahan also had a power-play goal for the Rangers, who entered with the NHL’s second-worst unit. Marc Staal pushed the lead to 4-2 in the third period, 29 seconds after Ryan Malone got the Lightning within one during a power play. Drury scored his fifth of the season with 27.5 seconds left. Martin St. Louis had the other goal for the Lightning, who lost for the second straight night after a three-game winning streak. They are 4-2-4 since a pair of 2-1 losses to the Rangers during the season-opening series in the Czech Republic. Henrik Lundqvist made 36 saves for the Rangers.

Bruins 5, Maple Leafs 2

BOSTON — Blake Wheeler had his first three-goal game in the NHL, hours after the Boston rookie changed his uniform number from 42 to 26. Defensemen Dennis Wideman and Shawn Thronton added goals for the Bruins in their fifth win in six games. Mikhail Grabovski and Alex Steen scored for Toronto. The Maple Leafs have lost three straight.

Capitals 3, Hurricanes 2

WASHINGTON — Alexander Semin scored twice in the final 3 minutes, getting the winner with 10.9 seconds left, to rally Washington. The Capitals trailed 2-1 before Semin scored from close range with 2:43 to go. Then, with time running out, he ended a rush toward the net by beating Cam Ward with a wrist shot from inside the right circle. Semin has 10 goals in 12 games. Sergei Fedorov also scored for Washington, 10-0-1 in its last 11 regular-season home games dating to last season. Scott Walker and Tuomo Ruutu scored for Carolina.

Thrashers 4, Islanders 3

ATLANTA — Slava Kozlov scored twice, and Tobias Enstrom had the deciding goal with 8:31 remaining for Atlanta. Jason Williams also scored for Atlanta. With their first two-game winning streak since last February, Atlanta moved out of last place in the Eastern Conference — a point ahead of the Islanders. Frans Nielsen, Trent Hunter and Jon Sim scored for New York.

Senators 4, Flyers 1

OTTAWA — Dany Heatley scored for the fifth straight game and Jesse Winchester had his first NHL goal to lead Ottawa. Alex Auld stopped 17 shots and Anton Volchenkov and Chris Neil also scored for Ottawa, which won its second straight home game. Auld, making his seventh straight start, improved to 5-2-1 in eight appearances overall. Mike Fisher had two assists after picking up his first two points of the season Tuesday night in a 2-1 win over Washington, including his first goal of the season in overtime. The Senators are 4-0-1 in their last five games following a four-game losing streak. Arron Asham scored his first goal for Philadelphia, which lost its second in a row after a four-game winning streak and fell to 4-5-3 overall. Flyers backup Antero Niittymaki made 21 saves in his fifth start of the season. Antoine Vermette appeared to have opened the scoring for Ottawa 4:42 in, but a video review determined that the Senators’ left wing directed the puck into the net using his right skate in a distinct kicking motion. Volchenkov scored his second goal of the season at 8:49 when he put a slap shot from the right point past Niittymaki to give Ottawa a 1-0 lead.
