Mooney trails, 21-3

CANTON — Mooney’s slow start on offense has enabled Steubenville to take advantage of the game and the scoreboard. A 30-yard field goal by Ed Reese brought the Cardinals within four, 7-3.

The Big Red countered on the ensuing drive behind senior fullback Branko Busick. Busick hammered his way through a hole and rumbled for a 74-yard run down to the 1 yard line. One play later, Busick plowed through the line for a touchdown.

The Big Red added another touchdown for a 21-3 lead late in the second quarter. After Mooney running back Karrington Griffin fumbled, the Big Red recovered the ball on the Mooney 24-yard line.

Senior fullback Branko Busick scored his second 1-yard touchdown.
