Front Street opens under Memorial bridge

YOUNGSTOWN — Front Street underneath the Fallen Firefighters Memorial Bridge reopened today.

The opening of Front Street marks the completion of the bridge reconstruction project that started in January and cost more than $5 million.

The bridge opened mid-October and Front Street was originally set to reopen shortly after.

Due to weather the painting underneath the bridge got behind schedule, pushing the street opening back, said Randy Partika of the Mahoning County Engineer’s office.
