Former Congressman Lyle Williams dies, was 66

Former congressman Lyle Williams of Lordstown died tonight after suffering an apparent heart attack at the ITAM Club on U.S. Route 422 in Warren.

Williams was the valley’s last Republican congressman. He served from 1980 to 1984 when he was defeated by Jim Traficant.

Before that Williams was elected to two terms as a Trumbull county commissioner. He also was a Bloomfield township trustee.

He was currently working as a lobbyist in Washington.

Lyle Williams was 66 years old.
