YOUNGSTOWN — A North Brockway Avenue woman who drove through a fence and into a building on the West Side did so after running into three cars around 6 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Deanna D. Moschella, 29, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired, failure to stop after an accident, failure to maintain reasonable control and failure to maintain assured clear distance. She was expected to be arraigned today in municipal court.

Police said Moschella, driving a 1999 Dodge Durango, first rear-ended a Chevrolet Trailblazer in the 500 block of North Meridian then continued on to rear-end a Ford Focus as the driver waited for the traffic light at Meridian and Vestal Road.

She drove over the curb as the Ford pulled over to get her license plate number and sideswiped it before traveling down Vestal to Salt Springs Road, where she went left of center and sideswiped a Cadillac Deville going in the opposite direction, police said. In fleeing that crash, she lost control on the bend at Salt Springs and Waverly Avenue, left the road, hit the curb, went through a fence and hit a building in the 900 block of Salt Springs, reports show.

Police said Moschella smelled of an alcoholic beverage and was unsteady on her feet and argumentative. She was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center. Police said she refused a sobriety test.

In October, Moschella was indicted on a felony vandalism charge. Trial is set for Nov. 17 in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

Her record includes a domestic violence conviction in Mahoning County Area Court in Austintown in September, coupled with a probation violation in a disorderly conduct case that had been amended from assault.

She was sentenced to 20 days in jail and placed on two years’ probation.
