NBA ROUNDUP Wednesday’s other games

Suns 113, Pacers 103 INDIANAPOLIS — Amare Stoudemire scored 49 points, falling a point short of his career high in the Phoenix Suns’ victory over Indiana. Stoudemire was 17-for-21 from the field, made 15 free throws without a miss and had 11 rebounds, six assists and five steals. He missed his career high of 50 points, set against Portland on Jan. 2, 2005. Boris Diaw added 14 points for the Suns (4-1). T.J. Ford and Danny Granger each scored 23 points, and Marquis Daniels added 19 for the Pacers (1-2).

Pistons 100, Raptors 93

TORONTO — Tayshaun Prince scored 16 of his 27 points in the second quarter, and Richard Hamilton had 22 to help Detroit improve to 4-0. Allen Iverson was unavailable for Detroit because Chauncey Billups, one of three players traded to Denver in exchange for Iverson, hadn’t completed his physical. Chris Bosh had 26 points and 13 rebounds for Toronto in its unsuccessful bid for its first 4-0 start.

Knicks 101, Bobcats 98

NEW YORK — Zach Randolph had 25 points and 13 rebounds, Nate Robinson scored all 24 of his points in the first half, and New York ruined former Knicks coach Larry Brown’s first game back at Madison Square Garden. Wilson Chandler added 18 points and Jamal Crawford had 14 of his 16 in the second half for the Knicks. Raymond Felton scored 18 points and Jason Richardson had 17 for the Bobcats, 1-3 in their first season under Brown.

Heat 106, 76ers 83

MIAMI — Dwyane Wade scored 29 points, Mario Chalmers set a franchise record with nine steals, and Miami scored 12 straight points in the fourth quarter. Wade added seven rebounds and six assists. Miami forced 26 turnovers — matching the most in the NBA this season — and moved to 2-0 at home for the first time since 2004. Michael Beasley finished with 17 points, and Shawn Marion — playing with a hard plastic mask to protect a broken nose — added 12 points and seven rebounds for Miami (2-2). Thaddeus Young scored 19 points for Philadelphia.

Celtics 96, Thunder 83

OKLAHOMA CITY — Paul Pierce had 20 points and nine rebounds, Ray Allen scored 18 points and the Boston Celtics clamped down on the Oklahoma City Thunder. After giving up 29 points in the first quarter, the defending NBA champions held the Thunder to 25 percent shooting over the next two periods and didn’t let them match that point total for the next 26 minutes. Kevin Garnett added 17 points and eight rebounds, Kendrick Perkins had 10 points and nine rebounds and Rajon Rondo had 11 assists for the Celtics. Boston moved to 1-1 on the second night of back-to-back games this season, after going 16-3 in those situations last season on its way to the NBA title. Kevin Durant led the Thunder with 17 points, but had another poor shooting night in his team’s new gym. He went only 6-for-15 and is 18-for-50 this season at the Ford Center. Jeff Green added 14 points for Oklahoma City, and Russell Westbrook finished with 13 after two late 3-pointers.

Hawks 87, Hornets 79

NEW ORLEANS — Joe Johnson scored 24 points and the Atlanta Hawks made 12 3-pointers to stay perfect on the young season while handing the New Orleans Hornets their first loss. Reserve Flip Murray added 14 points for the Hawks (3-0), hitting a pair of 3s in the fourth quarter, including one as the shot clock expired during a 14-2 surge that put Atlanta in the lead for good. Chris Paul had 22 points and 11 assists for New Orleans (3-1). David West added 15 points and James Posey 10.

Bucks 112, Wizards 104, OT

MILWAUKEE — Richard Jefferson scored 32 points and rookie Luc Richard Mbah a Moute added 17, making up for a missed chance in regulation and rallying the Milwaukee Bucks to an overtime victory over Washington. Mbah a Moute, a second-round pick, missed a shot that would have won it at the buzzer after Milwaukee overcame a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit. But he helped on both ends in the overtime after Jefferson got it started with a dunk that gave the Bucks a 104-102 lead with 1:49 left. After DeShawn Stevenson’s loose ball foul, Mbah a Moute drove for a layup, then grabbed a rebound when Antawn Jamison missed a short shot and hit a 12-footer with 37 seconds left to give Milwaukee a 108-102 lead. Darius Songaila’s layup made it 108-104, but Luke Ridnour hit two free throws, Jamison missed a 3 and Ridnour added two more foul shots. Ridnour finished with 20 points and 11 assists.

Spurs 129, Timberwolves 125, 2OT

MINNEAPOLIS — Tony Parker scored a career-high 55 points, including a 20-footer at the buzzer to force a second overtime, in San Antonio’s victory over Minnesota. After Al Jefferson backed down Tim Duncan and sank a turnaround hook to put Minnesota up 116-114 with 21‚Ñ2 seconds left in the first overtime, Parker took the inbounds pass, dribbled right, pump-faked once and let the ball fly. He let a sly smile creep across his normally stone face as the Wolves trudged back to the bench. Jefferson paused to sit on the scorer’s table before play resumed and just shook his head as if to say, “What more can we do?” San Antonio won for the first time in four games this season, and picked up its sixth straight win and 11th in the last 12 meetings against Minnesota.
