Auction will help to send Christmas gifts to troops

HERMITAGE — Whispering Oaks Retirement Community, 260 S. Buhl Farm Drive, invites the public to Operation Christmas Benefit Auction on Saturday.

A preview of items begins at 3:30 p.m., and the auction begins at 5:30.

More than 30 items will be auctioned to raise money for the postage to send 150 Christmas packages to our active-duty military members.

Auction items include an Ohio State football signed by coach Jim Tressel, a book signed by Tressel, a helmet signed by Youngstown State University football coach Jon Heacock, a Browns queen-size afghan, and a Tam O’Shanter golf package.

Food vendors will be available, and overflow parking will be at Kennedy Catholic High School, where a shuttle bus will be available.
