Youngstown school levy supporters buoyed by absentee ballot returns

YOUNGSTOWN — The fact that the city school levy showed a 1,400 vote lead toward passage after the absentee ballots were counted in Mahoning County was taken as a very positive sign by levy supporters. When the levy was defeated last spring, the absentee votes went 1,500 in the opposite direction.

School board members, school administrators and other levy supporters are gathered at levy headquarters in the Mill Creek Square plaza on S. Schenley Avenue monitoring returns by television and a phone link to the board of elections.
